What is Piaggio associated with? First of all, of course, with the legendary Vespa scooter, which is hyper popular in Italy and abroad. However, Piaggio is not limited to scooters. There are other techniques in their lineup.

In the Piaggio lineup, in addition to conventional scooters and even three-wheeled scooters with dual front axle wheels, there are also three-wheeled cargo scooters. They are called Ape. The Ape 50 is equipped with a 1.8 kW motor and can carry up to 200 kg of cargo, and due to its low power and low speed, it is possible, if my memory serves me, from the age of 14.

Italian car company Piaggio has upgraded the Porter Maxxi mini dumper. The 2.2-ton vehicle features a new design and improved equipment. Also, the developers offer a modification of Ecopower with a gas drive.

Buyers can choose between a 4.36 m pickup truck or a 3.83 m short dump truck. The width of the truck with twin rear wheels is 1.56 meters. Payload is up to 1.1 tons. The 1.3-liter petrol engine develops 48 kW / 65 hp, and the gas version of Ecopower – 63 hp. The maximum speed is 120 km / h.

Few know that the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Piaggio also includes compact trucks. And in 2019, the company plans to launch a full-fledged LCV with a carrying capacity of 1.5 tons on the market. It is being developed jointly with the Chinese manufacturer Foton. And in anticipation of this event, the Italians have modernized their Piaggio Porter light truck, which has been produced since 1992. A familiar name, right? Indeed, the dimensions of the Italian Piaggio Porter are similar to the Korean Hyundai with the same name. But it is based on another car – the Japanese Daihatsu Hijet of the last generation.

External changes relative to the Japanese progenitor are minimal – a different form of headlights and a radiator grille. In Italy, the truck is sold in two versions – standard and reinforced (with the Maxxi prefix). The standard version has a lifting capacity of up to 830 kg, while the Maxxi can be loaded with 1.1 tons.

This year, the Italian Porter received a new 1.3-liter gasoline engine with 82 hp. It meets Euro 6 standards and is capable of accelerating a small truck up to 130 km / h.
