Mercedes-Benz CLA

The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA made its debut on the us market for the first time as part of a special event held on January 9, 2019, and its official start of sales is scheduled for the end of spring. The new product is a full-fledged second generation and has an internal factory index of C 118. It received a line of new turbocharged engines, a redesigned interior with sporty accents, and a much more advanced multimedia system. Car Assembly will be set up at the facilities of the Hungarian branch in Kecskemet. It is worth noting that the first to hit the market will be more expensive versions with an older power unit and a robotic box. As for the exterior, the new generation received a much more aggressive design. The car retained a smooth and streamlined silhouette, but received more prominent bumpers with enlarged air intakes, an angular radiator grille and narrow led optics with expressive graphics.

Mercedes-Benz CLA is positioned as a more advanced and high-status version of the regular A-Class. From the latter, it differs in the layout of the interior and the rear part of the body. Due to the sloping dome-shaped roof slope, the size of the car surpassed its source. It measures 4,688 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,439 m high, and 2,729 mm between the axes. The car also shares the platform with the A-class, however, even in the starting trim levels it has a more progressive suspension layout. In both cases, McPherson struts are located in the front, and in the back, instead of an elastic semi-independent torsion beam, there is a more complex fully independent multi-link structure. We should also mention the size of the CLA trunk. Despite the three-volume body type, it is quite roomy and holds up to 420 liters of cargo.

Mercedes-Benz CLA received a completely new line of powertrains. The basic versions are equipped with a 1.3-liter inline four with turbocharging and direct injection. It is available in two versions, producing 136 or 163 horsepower and 200-250 Nm of torque. As a transmission, a six-speed manual or 7G-DCT robot is offered, driven exclusively on the front wheels. Older versions will get a more powerful two-liter unit with a similar layout. It already develops 190-224 horses and 300-350 Nm of thrust. It is connected exclusively with a preselective robotic gearbox, and as an additional option, also with a four-wheel drive system. For fans of heavy fuel units, the manufacturer offers a 1.5-liter turbodiesel with 116 HP and 260 Nm.

The main innovation for the Mercedes-Benz CLA was the proprietary upgraded MBOX system. It has a dual screen that simultaneously displays both instrument readings and data from the entertainment system. Among the new features, it is worth noting a more advanced voice control, as well as a gesture recognition system. Otherwise, the model has a fairly rich configuration, typical for the premium class. From the total number of options, it is worth noting adaptive head light, blind spot monitoring system, exclusive interior trim, advanced Parking assistant and a full list of security systems, including radar cruise control.
