Among the disadvantages, we can note the sensitivity of the engine to the quality of fuel and the increased noise of gasoline versions due to their uncharacteristic increased compression ratio.

Some owners had difficulty starting gasoline engines at low temperatures. The problem can be avoided by using the 0w-20 oil recommended by the manufacturer. Due to the design features of the engine, it is strictly forbidden to pour gasoline on it, this is fraught with deterioration of the dynamic characteristics of the car, the occurrence of detonation and a significant reduction in the engine life. If you comply with these simple requirements, SKYACTIV engines will work properly, without causing problems to the owner.

Boxes aren’t prone to surprises either. Only minor oil stains at the junction of the engine with the transmission sometimes annoyed the owners. However, if the car was serviced by dealers, this problem was solved under warranty. Diesel versions were in the highest demand in our market. However, this is not because they are less reliable. It’s just that heavy-fuel cars were the most expensive. In General, on all modifications of the Mazda CX-5, the engine-box tandem turned out to be reliable.

In front of the CX-5 is a MacPherson, behind the “multi-link”. There were no problems with the suspension with the exception of early cars produced before 2013, where owners complained of knocking and rumbling in the front, which occurred already in the first thousand kilometers. The culprit of the problems was the bearing of the front shock absorber support. The material from which the bearing was made could not withstand the loads and broke. Official dealers under warranty changed the defective part. There were also minor problems with the brakes. Sometimes there were defects in the design of the caliper and one of the rear brake discs overheated. The problem was solved by visiting the dealer and replacing it with a modified part under warranty. The calipers brought to mind started to be installed regularly from the end of 2016.

Paintwork on the Japanese, traditionally, is not the most resistant. And the Mazda CX-5 is no exception. Even in the first years of ownership, the car is covered with chips, and the plastic elements in the front become matte from sandblasting on the roads. The interior is made of high-quality materials. Leather seats do not drool even after hundreds of thousands of kilometers, as is the case in Toyota, so the heavily worn interior indicates a huge mileage. In 2015, the CX-5 received a facelift and acquired a new multimedia system and control interface on the center console. Led headlights and lights became available, and the radiator grille was modified. It is worth noting that one of the disadvantages of this car is the high cost of maintenance. According to the regulations of Mazda, you need to spend every 15,000 km. The cost ranges from 10-15 thousand rubles, although there are alternative services along with official dealers. At the same time, the design itself is very reliable: even after passing the warranty period, the CX-5 will not present surprises, the main thing is to change consumables in time. Together, the Mazda CX-5 is a hassle-free car that can be safely considered as a purchase. It has no major design flaws and is perfectly suited to our conditions. The Japanese did not lose when they went along the path of preserving atmospheric engines and now their models are in demand in the secondary market.
