Hongqi HS7

The Hongqi brand (translated as “Red Banner”) is the brainchild of the FAW concern. For a long time, executive cars were produced under it, intended for the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party, but in 2017 the manufacturer decided to change the company’s policy and commercialize the premium brand. HongQi is the most prestigious brand in China’s national auto industry. It traces its history back to the 1950s; it produces executive sedans for the needs of members of the Central Committee of the country’s Communist Party. The premium brand FAW has not yet been represented outside the Celestial Empire, but last year the concern opened its own design center in Germany – it is quite possible that Chinese are preparing to enter the European market. In addition, FAW lured away the Rolls-Royce chief designer.

The model is based on the previous generation four-door Toyota Crown.

Dimensions Hongqi HS7: length – 5,095 mm, width – 1,989 mm, height – 1,778 mm, distance between axles – 2,970 mm. Under the hood of the luxury SUV is a 3-liter V-six CA6GV30TD, delivering 338 hp. (445 Nm). The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic from Aisin. The car is equipped with an all-wheel drive system even on a basic version. Some details look like Hongqi H7 sedan, which, in fact has a common platform of the Japanese model as the previous generation of Toyota Crown, but it didn’t happen. This crossover does have its own mechanism with a front double-wishbone suspension, and the unic  rear independent suspension – with powerful cast lower arms. “In a circle” there are pneumatic cylinders, the steering mechanism is equipped with an electric booster.

What about the light?  The Hongqi HS7 crossover has received full LED optics, air suspension, 19- or 20-inch wheels are provided for every model.

Inside there are genuine leather, wood veneer and three rows of comfortable seats.  Even sitting on the third row is amazing. There are no separate chairs on the second row, but this fact makes the situation even better for passengers – they have more space that way.

Outer sections of the split sofa are heated and ventilated. Also producers really care to make a car modern and full of technology: there are three  beautiful screens in front of the driver’s eyes: virtual instruments, a ten-inch display of the media system and a touchscreen on the console, which is responsible for climate control. The car has three-zone climate control, all-round cameras, a Bose audio system, rear-seat screens, a panoramic roof and more
