In its home market, the all-new BMW X7 was unveiled to the General public on October 17, 2018, and its international debut took place on the catwalks of the November auto show in Los Angeles. The novelty has taken a flagship position in the manufacturer’s off-road line, and is also designed to impose competition on the British Range Rover and German GLS. The car received a line of turbocharged power units, a luxurious and spacious interior, a full list of modern options and a design in the current, at the moment, corporate style. First of all, I would like to note the huge chrome nostrils of the radiator grille. They climb on the hood, reach the amplifier and have a design of vertical relief chrome ribs. Headlamps received a narrow elongated shape, two focusing lenses and eyeliner from thin lines of led daytime running lights. As for the rear part, the eye catches the massive exhaust pipes, a small spoiler above the rear window and atypical small brake lights connected to each other by a chrome overlay.
The BMW X 7 is a large premium SUV with three rows of seats. Its overall dimensions are: length 51 mm, width 2000 mm, height 1805 mm, and wheelbase-3105 m. The ground clearance is expected to be high. In the standard position, approximately 221 mm remains under the bottom. THE car is based on the clear proprietary modular platform, which implies a completely independent suspension architecture. Moreover, it is worth noting that the car is equipped with pneumatic elements that allow you to change the ground clearance in the range of up to 80 millimeters.
By default, the X7 can take up to 7 people on Board. For an additional fee, the middle sofa can be replaced with two separate captain’s chairs. As for the trunk, in the standard position, the latter can provide only 326 liters. For transportation of oversized cargo, seats can be sacrificed. If you add up the second and third rows, you can get up to 2120 liters of usable space.
In the domestic market, the SUV will be offered with three different powertrains, a proprietary xDrive all-wheel drive system and eight-speed ZF automatic transmissions.
BMW X7 diesel engines are three-liter turbocharged sixes. Depending on the version, they can produce 249 or 400 horsepower. Acceleration to hundreds will take 5.4-7 seconds and the speed ceiling is located at 227-250 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption will be 7.3-7.5 liters of diesel fuel per hundred kilometers in a mixed cycle.
The petrol unit, at the start of sales, will be presented only one-a turbocharged three-liter six for 340 horses. It accelerates the SUV to hundreds in 6.1 seconds and allows maximum development of 245 km/h. Fuel consumption will be 9.5 liters per 100 km in a combined cycle with a calm driving style.
The BMW X7 has an expectedly wide list of options. I would like to mention the virtual dashboard, background led interior lighting, leather trim, climate control system with five zones of operation, panoramic roof with three separate sections, seats with electric drive, heating and ventilation, automatic Parking system, programmable pre-start heater, additional off-road package and active cruise control.
